From member, part timer, full timer to owner. This was Goo Young’s journey through the past 10 years with Elevate.

Goo Young has been with Elevate since our humble days beside Hong Lim Park where he initially joined the strongman class led by Clinton. What first started out as a hobby turned into a competitive outlet back in the days where there were still competitions held by Home Team NS. Goo Young was able to place 4th despite just 8 months of training.

However, as life goes, an unexpected turn of events led to the cancellation of the strongman class when Elevate moved to Upper Thomson Road. This when he started embarking on the sport of Powerlifting. He was also then offered a part time job as a receptionist and coach to conduct the strength class.

He has been educated as a certified ACE personal trainer, Precision Nutrition Coach and Eleiko Strength Coach. In 2019, he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Sports Science while being a full time coach. As he honed his passion for fitness guiding individuals, he was able to guide individuals toward healthier lifestyles and achieving their fitness goals. While he himself has gone through a transformative process of losing 40kg during the year 2019.

His approach to fitness is all about empowerment and education while being an empathetic and nurturing coach. The mantra “Give a man a fish, he eats for a day. Teach a man to fish, he eats for a lifetime” is the embodiment of his style of coaching. Believing that all clients should learn how to be self-efficient as they go through a life-long fitness journey.
